8/30/2019 ROI calculationsI’ve been quiet all week because we merged two of our restaurant locations. I was sad bcz we had that particular location for 15 years.
It was in my hometown and we had 2 locations in my hometown. We had an offer we couldn’t refuse on the real estate so it was time to depart. Side note**the cannabis boom is happening right now in Oklahoma and real estate is going for insane prices. So that got me thinking about ROI and numbers. I love numbers! I have heard people talk in this group about profit, loss, return on investment, etc. So here’s my take on it since I’m in several industries aimed to help people think more freely, work more passionately and live more purposefully! The ROI is amazing on creative work/inventions/books if you come out with a long-lasting Seller! The investment is worth it if you believe in your art. To all of you sitting on the fence and scared, here’s my advice—-Go for it! What have you got to lose? Your pride?! Your money?! I once lost $180,000 in a restaurant. The lessons I gained were priceless. How? Here’s proof: My very next restaurant I opened right after that closure was the biggest success I’ve ever had to date and that restaurant recouped it’s initial investment in 6 months. To read more about this and the numbers, go to my next post. These are real life examples from my own experience. I chose an average investment from each industry in my portfolio. My goal is to show you the potential that you hold in your hands right now. Please note this is a simplified version of annual ROI to compare different investment vehicles. These numbers are standard in the industry or better. These numbers are mine and I can’t be held accountable for your ROI. (My specialty is restaurants and real estate with over 20 years+ experience.) Please note that the book royalties are estimated based on my experience within the past 3 months. This is my simplified version so I can quickly calculate in my head when I’m making a potential offer/investment. To find my simplified annual ROI, here’s what I did. Subtract all expenses from monthly income to find net profit/monthly cash flow. Then divide monthly cash flow by amount of investment. Finally, multiply by 12. You will then have a number in decimals. Multiply by 100 to receive your ROI percentage. If you want more in-depth numbers behind these calculations and estimates, visit my next blog post. Today, the first thing I accomplished with my publishing company was revising final illustrations with my talented illustrator from Bulgaria. She sent me Arial, the Youtuber. And they were gorgeous. I hope the storyline resonates with kids. It's different than anything out there so I'm nervous on how it will be received.
I refined my keywords to lower my ACOS on Amazon ads. It's monotonous work, but necessary. It's my 1st day of refining since I launched an aggressive ad campaign July 1st with the Launch of Arial, the Unicorn. I, also, started a TeachersPayTeachers account and added free lesson plans and resources for growing grit and mental toughness. It's fun to be able to give back to the community this way and hopefully I can make an impact on kids in future generations. A strong mind and good mental health should be at the forefront of what parents and teachers pass on! I reviewed 3 children's books today from indie authors. I try to do that at least once a day. It's important to me to help others. It feels good. Bambi gets back to me with the revisions. And they are perfect. We have 2 books beneath us so she and I both know how to communicate with each other and what we like so it makes the work more effortless than ever before. I upload the illustrations to my designer to finish the typesetting, etc. I'm excited to see how the book will turn out, but we are still 2 weeks out from publishing as I still need to wrk out the kinks in the font placement, typesetting, etc. with designer. Then, even though I overnight the proof it still takes Amazon 3 days to print and ship. That's okay because 2 reasons. First, I'm leaving for Yosemite in the morning. Second, when I launched Arial, the Unicorn it was getting 2000k+ daily reads. That all stopped abruptly when I launched Arial, the Astronaut on July 14th. The second title gobbled up all of the KENP reads from the 1st! I'm not complaining, I feel very blessed that I received an overall 120k+ reads over a 16 day period. What I'm saying is, I'd like to launch before school starts just not too early so other Arial titles have a chance to compete for the most read KENP at the end of month. After Arial, the Youtuber was uploaded I had some time to sit and think about my vision for the next series. I am going to continue Arial the UnicornPreneur Series but in what capacity is the question. Will it be UnicornPreneur Holiday Series, UnicornPreneur Chooses Series ("Arial Chooses Kindness", "Arial Goes Green")? After some brain and soul searching, I decide to change up my book description to add more keywords to Arial, the Unicorn. It's current rank is 43,138. Let me know if it changes between now and the time that you read this. There, that should do it for today! Comment below and tell me what you think about the new Arial, the Unicorn book description or what my next series should be called that involves Arial in the comments below. I am off to see our new restaurant location, Nhinjo! |
